These are some notes regarding My HAL cruise tour June of 2025.   Pictures and videos are added for a little color and fun.

Vancouver:

Hop on hop off bus is always a great way to see a city.

The Victoria & Buchart gardens tour is lovely.  (Even John likes it.  LOL)

Dawson City:

The Klondike Gold included tour is fascinating.

The casino is lots of fun!  There are three shows a night, all different and entertaining.  The casino also gives a very fair exchange rate if you need Canadian money.

The Dawson Inn has laundry facilities if you need them.

Dawson is the home of the infamous Sourtoe Cocktail!  Yes, I did it!!!  If you want to see me, take the shot, follow the link below.

The Sourtoe Cocktail is a famous (and infamous) drink served at the Sourdough Saloon in the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. It consists of a shot of alcohol—usually Yukon Jack or another strong liquor—served with a preserved human toe. Yes, a real mummified human toe is floated in the glass.

The tradition began in 1973 when a local man named Captain Dick Stevenson found a frostbitten toe preserved in a jar and came up with the idea for the Sourtoe Cocktail Club. Since then, thousands of adventurous drinkers have dared to try it.

There’s only one rule: you can drink the cocktail fast or slow, but your lips must touch the toe. Otherwise, you don’t earn membership in the exclusive Sourtoe Cocktail Club. Over the years, the toe has occasionally been swallowed or stolen, but replacements have been donated.

It’s a quirky, macabre Yukon tradition—and one of the most unusual bar experiences in the world.

Ketchikan:

Lovely town to stroll around in.  For my VFW friends, there is a VFW post in town that is fun to visit.

Juneau:

Great for whale watching.  Contact me for suggestions.

A must is Red Dog Saloon.

Skagway:

Red lion inn is lots of fun.

White pass summit train, beautiful scenery and lots of history. Definitely the best excursion to take from Skagway.

The White Pass Summit Train Ride is a scenic journey through the rugged wilderness of Alaska and the Yukon. Departing from Skagway, the narrow-gauge railway climbs nearly 3,000 feet to the historic White Pass Summit, offering sweeping views of mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, and trestle bridges. Originally built during the Klondike Gold Rush, the route features fascinating historical landmarks and informative narration, making it a memorable experience that combines breathtaking natural beauty with rich frontier history.

Temsco company offers Helicopter tours that land on a glacier out of Skagway.  (a friend of mines nephew flies for them) Please let me know if you would like more information.

Denali:

Denali tour company has lots to offer. They can even take you around to see the sights.  Met Hunter, the owner when I was there, great guy!

Husky Homestead.  I truly enjoyed it, but I am a dog show nut!  Please contact me if you would like to book something with them.  We can definitely customize the experience.   Best to book early!

The included Tundra wilderness tour with Holland America is very enjoyable.

The Music of Denali show at the lodge was a bit to silly for me.

Fairbanks:

The Ice museum in town was lots of fun to walk around.

The show at pioneer park with salmon bake (I am not a fan of salmon, but there were plenty of other options) was very funny, and the singers were excellent.

The Salmon Bake and Show at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, Alaska, is a popular summer attraction that offers visitors a quintessential Alaskan dining and entertainment experience. Set in an outdoor, rustic setting surrounded by trees and historic buildings, the Salmon Bake serves all-you-can-eat portions of freshly grilled wild Alaskan salmon, beer-battered cod, and prime rib, along with hearty sides like baked potatoes, salad, and rolls. The food is cooked over an open flame or deep-fried on-site, giving it a fresh, authentic flavor associated with traditional Alaskan cookouts. After enjoying the meal, guests can attend a live musical show produced by the Palace Theatre, located within Pioneer Park. The show is a comedic, fast-paced production that humorously showcases the history of Fairbanks and Alaska through song, dance, and entertaining storytelling. With colorful costumes and engaging performances, the show appeals to both locals and tourists. The Salmon Bake and Show together create a festive evening that highlights Alaskan culture, hospitality, and history, making it a memorable stop for those exploring the Fairbanks area in the summer months.

Please contact me, and we can discuss other options to explore in our 49th state, she is beautiful.
